I get the concept of aging gracefully, but realistically, I’ll do whatever it takes to turn back time.
Whenever I want to annoy my Husband, I talk about all the cosmetic surgery I would have. I’d have a boob job, tummy tuck, ribs removed, eye lift, turkey waddle removed…the list is infinite.
Of course, none of this would happen because cosmetic surgery is expensive, but also, my days of elective surgery are over. When you’re a sepsis survivor, you do everything in your power to not invite possible infections into your life.
Luckily for me, the women in my biological family all have great skin and look fantastic. Thank you, gene pool!
What Are You Using On Your Skin?
Now that I leave my house, I get asked this quite a bit. Honestly, I’m a basic Betty, but I’ll share some things that I have found to be helpful in fighting gravity.
I use Cetaphil. I like that it’s unscented and hypoallergenic.
Once a week, I add some baking soda to my cleanser to give my skin a good scrub. The size of baking soda is comparable to the crystals used in microdermabrasion. If you want to do a natural peel and your face can handle it, add some lemon juice for a deeper exfoliation.
I also like the Biore scrub several times/week, and I always follow up with the Micellar water to remove any traces of cleanser, make-up, and neutralize the pH of my skin.

My New Favorite Thing
I have just discovered micro-needling and am addicted! It’s best to get this done professionally, but I am a licensed cosmetologist and feel safe doing the procedure on myself.

I was going to make an appointment for PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Microneedling, but it’s still $399/tube, and you may need up to 6 tubes/session! You can check to see if there’s a CBAM Clinic in your region.
But back to the DIY reality, I love that the needles create paths for the serums to penetrate deeper and cause collagen production, resulting in smoother skin. Here’s an overview of how to do it safely at home from Healthline, and this is what I used.
